White Fungus is an arts magazine and publishing platform based in Taiwan.
The 14th issue of White Fungus opens with Roger Boyce’s stream-of-consciousness word sculpture, “Roads of Excess”, which is followed by Tim Bollinger’s second article in his series about the early days of zoological discovery in colonial New Zealand, “The Bone Collectors”, and the dubious beginnings of the nation’s museums. Kurt Gottschalk writes about legendary San Francisco experimental music group The Residents, and Tobias Fischer interviews Berlin musician Schneider TM about his trip to Mali and Burkina Faso. The issue contains interviews with artists Simon Denny, Abraham Cruzvillegas, and Einat Amir. There are articles about Wang Fujui, one of the pioneers of sound and digital art in Taiwan, noise / performance artist Dawang Yingfan, and Oakland noise artist Scott Arford and the Bay Area experimental music scene. Robbie Martin writes about the Stasi in East Germany and David Frazier writes a provocative piece, “The Pointless of Video Art Exhibitions”. Plus there is a new comic by Barry Linton, “The Birth Of Earth”.
